Little Bow and Travers Reservoirs Upgrade - Public Input

Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation and Alberta Environment propose to upgrade and rehabilitate the Little Bow Reservoir. The project involves upgrading of the dam structures and associated canals in the Little Bow reservoir and the replacement of the control structure in the canal connecting the Travers and Little Bow reservoirs. These works will increase the surface area of the Little Bow reservoir from 6.16 square kilometres to 8.86 square kilometres and allow the Little Bow and Travers reservoirs to be operated in tandem under a common full supply level (FSL).

The project is subject to a federal environmental assessment pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.  The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency invites the public to comment on the document entitled Draft Project-Specific Guidelines and Scoping Document for the proposed Little Bow Reservoir Rehabilitation and Upgrading Project in Alberta.

Additional information on the Little Bow Reservoir Rehabilitation and Upgrading Project, as well as a copy of the Draft Project-Specific Guidelines and Scoping Document, is available in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Registry, on the Agency’s Web site, under reference number 09-03-49421

Comments on the draft Guidelines and Scoping Document are due by December 2.
